Consultant Psychiatrist

Inspire Medical is recruiting Consultant Psychiatrists for locum and fixed term vacancies with HSE mental health services at various locations across the country. Posts are available in general adult psychiatry and other sub-specialties, covering community mental health teams, approved centres and liaison services.

Locum cover runs from single weeks to rolling blocks; fixed term contracts run from three to twelve months. Pay is at HSE locum rates: €133 per hour on site and €33 per hour off site. Registration on the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council register is mandatory for every post.

Executive Clinical Director, Mental Health Services

• Provide consultant-level assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning for the service’s caseload, in the community and on the inpatient unit.
• Lead the multidisciplinary team, chair clinical reviews and hold overall clinical responsibility for patients under your care.
• Carry out assessments and complete reports under the Mental Health Act 2001 as required.
• Supervise NCHDs and contribute to their training, appraisal and clinical governance.
• Take part in the consultant on-call rota for the service as agreed at booking.

• IMC Specialist Registration in Psychiatry is mandatory — applications without it cannot be progressed.
• Recent consultant or senior specialist experience in an Irish, UK or comparable mental health service.
• Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2001 and the Mental Health Commission’s regulations.
• Current medical indemnity and evidence of participation in a professional competence scheme.
• Garda vetting, occupational health clearance and two consultant-level references.
