Consultant General Medicine

Inspire Medical is recruiting Consultants in General Medicine for locum and fixed term vacancies in HSE hospitals at various locations across the country. Posts are in model 3 and model 4 hospitals and combine acute unselected medical take with inpatient wards and outpatient clinics; sub-specialty interests are welcome.

Locum cover runs from single weeks to rolling blocks; fixed term contracts run from three to twelve months. Pay is at HSE locum rates: €133 per hour on site and €33 per hour off site. Registration on the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council register is mandatory for every post.

Clinical Director, Medicine

• Lead the acute medical take when on call, including post-take ward rounds and decisions on admission and discharge.
• Hold clinical responsibility for a general medical inpatient caseload and run scheduled outpatient clinics.
• Supervise the medical registrars, SHOs and interns on your team and contribute to their training and assessment.
• Work with the emergency department, the acute medical assessment unit and the specialty teams to keep patient flow safe.
• Take part in clinical governance, audit and the consultant on-call rota as agreed at booking.

• IMC Specialist Registration in General (Internal) Medicine is mandatory — applications without it cannot be progressed.
• Recent consultant or senior specialist experience running an acute medical take in an Irish, UK or comparable hospital.
• Confident managing the full range of acute medical presentations, with a sub-specialty interest an advantage.
• Current medical indemnity and evidence of participation in a professional competence scheme.
• Garda vetting, occupational health clearance and two consultant-level references.
