Consultant Anaesthetist

Inspire Medical is recruiting Consultant Anaesthetists for locum and fixed term vacancies in HSE hospitals at various locations across the country. Posts cover elective and emergency theatre lists, obstetric anaesthesia, pre-operative assessment and a share of the consultant on-call rota; sub-specialty interests in intensive care, pain medicine or paediatric anaesthesia are welcome.

Locum cover runs from single weeks to rolling blocks; fixed term contracts run from three to twelve months. Pay is at HSE locum rates: €133 per hour on site and €33 per hour off site. Registration on the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council register is mandatory for every post.

Clinical Director, Anaesthesia

• Provide consultant-level anaesthesia for elective and emergency lists across the surgical specialties the hospital supports.
• Cover obstetric anaesthesia, the emergency theatre and, where rostered, the intensive care unit and acute pain service.
• Run pre-operative assessment and hold overall clinical responsibility for patients under your care.
• Supervise and teach anaesthesia registrars and SHOs and contribute to their appraisal and clinical governance.
• Take part in the consultant on-call rota for the department as agreed at booking.

• IMC Specialist Registration in Anaesthesiology is mandatory — applications without it cannot be progressed.
• Recent consultant or senior specialist experience in an Irish, UK or comparable acute hospital.
• Confident managing the full range of elective and emergency anaesthesia, with a sub-specialty interest an advantage.
• Current medical indemnity and evidence of participation in a professional competence scheme.
• Garda vetting, occupational health clearance and two consultant-level references.
